Four hat-wearing musicians dissolve into a tempest of amber, teal, and silver — their white-outlined forms barely containing the explosive energy of the performance around them. Cellos and percussion instruments blaze in deep orange and gold at the heart of the composition while spiralling lines of black and white paint trace the invisible paths of sound through the air like wild notation. The silver-grey ground gives the whole canvas a cool, cinematic quality that makes the warm instrument tones burn all the brighter. Chaotic, joyful, and magnificently alive — jazz painted as pure visual thunder.
