Zeitnot - Arevik Gasparyan

Chess pieces dissolve into a mosaic of checkerboards, staircases and geometric shards in this cubist composition. Knights, kings and pawns appear and vanish between black, white, turquoise, cobalt, ochre and coral planes, as if the board were racing against the clock. Layers of scraped and textured oil paint give the rhythmic patterns depth and tension, while the vertical format draws the eye through every move. Intellectual, graphic, and full of energy, this painting is a striking choice for a study, game room, office or modern living room. A perfect gift for chess players and art collectors.
